Robot Fish ‘Charlie’. This is James Bond, need to know time via The CIA (sshhh)

The CIA have launched YouTube and Flickr accounts showing off historical videos and pictures.

‘The idea behind these improvements is to make more information about the agency available to more people, more easily,’ Director Panetta said in a statement. ‘The CIA wants the American people and the world to understand its mission and its vital role in keeping our country safe.’

Flick through the Flickr stream to view gadets that Q would be more than proud of. Would be nice to see dates alongside some of this evidence, if this is what they’ve achieved in the past, what are they using and working on today? (That’s a rhetorical question, I don’t expect an answer.)

CIA’s Office of Advanced Technologies and Programs developed the Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) fish to study aquatic robot technology. The UUV fish contains a pressure hull, ballast system, and communications system in the body and a propulsion system in the tail. It is controlled by a wireless line-of-sight radio handset.
